Configuring LAN connections
You can enable Local Area Networks (LANs) on your
system by creating ``network interfaces''
consisting of configured LAN adapters with protocol
stacks and networking applications.
The
Network Configuration Manager
provides a convenient, interactive way to add, modify,
view, and remove network interface configurations.
To configure LAN interfaces, you must configure:
hardware-
Set up your LAN adapter to work with your computer's hardware
using utilities supplied with your computer, networking adapters,
and UnixWare 7 system.
drivers-
Configure a network driver to work with your LAN
adapter.
protocols-
Configure an protocol stack to enable
communication with remote systems.
For information about configuring network interfaces
from the command line or in scripts, see the
netcfg(1M)
manual page.
For information about configuring Wide Area Networks
(WANs), see
``Configuring WAN connections''.
New and modified network adapter drivers are available
periodically.
Additional and updated drivers compatible with UnixWare 7
are available through the
Compatible Hardware Web Pages.
For the new network features and drivers included
with UnixWare 7, see New features.
NOTE:
Network adapters are also known as ``Network Interface Cards''
or NICs.
