Managing system performance

Investigating performance problems

Locating the source of a problem requires investigation. Because there are many possibilities there is no canned procedure, but we have provided a sample approach. It covers basic areas where problems usually surface, and suggests some actions that can alleviate problems. The most common indication that a problem exists is consistently poor response time.

The following ``Outline of typical troubleshooting procedure'' provides a general approach to troubleshooting.
