Restoring EELS database records
Archives created by
eels_log_archive(1Meels)
can be restored to existing EELS databases by using
eels_log_restore(1Meels).
If you do not have an existing EELS database to restore
to, you can create one using
eels_db_admin(1Meels).
WARNING:
eels_log_restore does not regenerate unique event IDs
for records it restores from archive. This means that if you do not
purge records when you originally archive them, and then restore
the archive back to the same database, duplicate records with the
same UniqEventID will be created. Only restore archives
to live databases if the records in the database were purged during
the original archive.
Archive files are always appended with a ``.Z'' extension. Archive
names can take one of two forms:
-
an ordinary filename as specified on the command line, for example:
eels_subset.Z
-
a filename appended with a datestamp, for example:
eels_subs.02011999_08:29:37BST.Z
