Installing the auditing subsystem

Using pkgadd to install the auditing software

Use the pkgadd(1M) command to install the auditing software.

To install the auditing software, perform the following steps:

  1. Execute the pkgadd command for the audit package. You must supply, as an argument to the -d option on the command line, the name of the device you will use to read in the package from its distribution media. For example, if your auditing software is distributed on CD-ROM, you would start the installation by typing the following command:

    pkgadd -d cdrom1 audit

  2. The pkgadd command prompts you to insert the media containing the auditing software. The pkgadd command prompts you throughout the whole installation process, which is self-documenting.

For more information on using the pkgadd command, see pkgadd(1M) and ``Installing, managing, and removing software''.
