Using NFS on a server

Sharing NFS resources with the share command

You should use share at the command line prompt when you want to share a resource for a brief period of time, or on an irregular basis. To share NFS resources in this way, use the following command:

share [-F nfs] [-o specific-options] [-d description] pathname

See the share(1Mnfs) manual page for details, and ``Examples: sharing resources'' for an illustration of the share command in use.

If you enter the -d option, the description is stored in your sharetab file. However, clients will not see the description displayed when they use the dfshares command to list the resources shared on your system.
