Checking for conflicts between hardware and drivers
Although auto-detection usually avoids conflicts between
hardware and drivers, network adapter problems can arise when
adapter hardware configuration parameters do not match those set
during driver configuration with the
Network Configuration Manager.
If such a conflict exists, the network adapter will not work.
To ensure that adapters and drivers are configured together
correctly:
-
Verify the hardware settings for parameters such as
interrupt vector,
I/O base address,
and
RAM base address.
To do so, you may need to:
-
Run your DOS setup program.
-
Check jumper settings on your adapter.
-
Run your MCA reference disk.
-
Run your EISA setup program.
-
Run your PCI BIOS configuration program.
-
Verify the system settings for the network drivers.
In the
Network Configuration Manager,
select
Hardware View hardware configuration.
-
Correct any conflicts in configuration parameters.
