An extensive list of LAN devices is supported,
including new hardware from the major vendors.
This release also introduces support for ISDN WAN hardware.
Data communication can occur over individual ISDN channels or it can
take advantage of multiple channels using multilink PPP, thereby
increasing throughput.
The
Network Configuration Manager,
a SCOadmin tool, provides single-point network configuration for
protocol stacks and network adapters.
The Network Configuration Manager also provides integrated WAN
configuration for communications protocols, serial lines, and
ISDN devices.
Full auto-detection is implemented for PCI, MCA, and
EISA devices, and many ISA cards can also be detected.
Extensive support is provided for 100Mbps fast networking standards,
such as fast ethernet, FDDI, and full-duplex.
Non-intrusive network adapter restart is introduced in this
release, which allows you to restart a stopped network driver
without interrupting stack transmissions. Restarts will also
occur automatically when a device indicates a failure condition
or a device becomes non-responsive.
