setvideomode --
set a high resolution video mode
Synopsis
/usr/bin/X11/setvideomode [option]
Description
This utility allows the user to reset video resolutions to a
known state. This can be helpful after inadvertently setting
the resolution to an unusable state.
setvideomode must be run as root.
Options
Run with or without options, setvideomode always displays
the current video configuration; for example:
Current video selection(s):
Model: GD5480 PCI
Vendor: Cirrus Logic, Mode: 1024x768-8-60
setvideomode also supports the following command line
options; they are mutually exclusive:
-default-
restores the resolution to its initial state at install time
-stgvga-
restores the resolution to standard VGA mode: 640x480, 16 colors
-update-
updates video mode to autodetect any new video adapters after an
update installation of the xdrivers package
-test-
displays a test pattern for the mode configured on /dev/vt01
-h-
displays the usage message
-probe/-noprobe-
legacy option, translates to -default
-vinfo-
legacy option, translates to -update
-testallmodes-
legacy option, translates to -test

troubleshooting utility only. Use the
Video Configuration Manager in the UnixWare 7 System Handbook
to change video configuration parameters for graphics adapters
and monitors.
