Default action
Related: Default value; Default button
A default action is the action performed when a user presses <Enter>,
double-clicks on a selected object, or drags-and-drops a selected
object.
-
Offer a default action only when all necessary
information is provided. For example, after entering a login
name, pressing <Enter> would not execute the login command but
would move the active field to the ``Password'' field so that
the user could enter their password.
-
Provide a default for buttons if applicable.
-
Always default to the least destructive action
possible.
