The pkgproto(1) command generates a prototype(4) file. It scans the paths specified on the command line and creates description line entries for these paths. If the pathname is a directory, an entry for each object in the directory is generated. You can use the -c option of the pkgproto command to place objects into a particular class.
When you create a prototype(4) file with an editor, it does not matter how package components are organized on your development machine. You use the path1=path2 pathname format to define where the files reside on your development machine and where they should be placed on the installation machine. However, when you use pkgproto to create your file, your development area must be structured exactly as you want your package to be structured.
