Device drivers are generally not portable or compatible in the same sense as user applications. This is because of the lack of agreement on standards in the industry and the nature of device driver programming.
Source and binary compatibility is guaranteed for many SCO UnixWare 2.1.X drivers in UnixWare 7, although most of these should be rewritten to use new UnixWare 7 features.
All SCO OpenServer drivers must be modified and recompiled for UnixWare 7.
See ``Porting drivers to DDI 8'' for more information on SCO UnixWare 2.1.X and SCO OpenServer driver compatibility.
See UNRESOLVED XREF-0 for an overview of the kernel device driver programming environment.
