Examining a filter

Once you've added a filter definition to the print service, you can examine it by running the lpfilter command. The output of this command is the filter definition displayed in a format that makes it suitable as input. You may want to save this output in a file that you can use later to redefine the filter if you inadvertently remove the filter from the print service.

To present the definition of the filter on your screen, enter the following command:

/usr/sbin/lpfilter -f filter-name -l

To capture the definition of the filter in a file for future reference, enter the following command:

/usr/sbin/lpfilter -f filter-name -l >filename
