Visual Administrator (VxVA)
The following notes and recommendations apply to
the Volume Manager Visual Administrator.
-
Spurious commands will be created if a plex is associated with a volume
in another vxva session or from the command line.
These commands are innocuous.
-
Any volumes can have the LOGDRL set as the logging type, whether
or not there are any logs currently attached.
The properties form indicates the state of this flag, which means that
the volume can accept a DRL.
-
vxva popup warning windows appear relative to the
root window.
In a virtual desktop environment, this can be a problem if the vxva
session has windows on multiple virtual screens.
It is recommended that users use only
one virtual screen per vxva session.
-
Hidden warning popup messages may need to be dismissed before
a session in multiple virtual screens can continue.
-
The volume properties form may be used to rename a volume.
If this is done when a filesystem that resides on that volume
is mounted, then the mount point will no longer be displayed in
the view below the volume.
This is due to inconsistencies in the maintenance of the
/etc/vfstab file by the Visual Administrator.
