Configuring the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)

Filter options

The following options define how a bundle will filter network packets:

Bring up filter tag
A filter to be used on outgoing packets if PPP is not available. If a packet is passed, it will be allowed to bring up a PPP link.

Keep up filter tag
A filter to be used on outgoing packets if PPP is available. If a packet is passed, it will reset the PPP link's ``time without data'' counter to 0. If the counter reaches the inactivity timeout value, the bundle may be closed depending on the number of network control protocols that are idle in the bundle.

Pass in filter tag
A filter for incoming packets on a PPP link.

Pass out filter tag
A filter for outgoing packets on a PPP link.
Click the attached Edit buttons to change a bring up, keep up, pass in, or pass out filter that is associated with the bundle's IP protocol details. See ``The Packet Filter Manager Interface'' for more information about defining and using packet filters.
