Configuring incoming call services

Call filtering

Call filtering is performed by the port monitor to determine if the caller has authorization to run the type of service requested. The caller ID (telephone number of the calling system) must be listed in the /etc/ics/Callfilter file (see Callfilter(4bnu)), together with a list of service types which that caller is authorized to use. Call filtering is enabled automatically when using modems (the -o option of ttyadm(1M) is set by the Modem Manager).

Only connections to your computer from the telephone numbers listed in the Callfilter file are allowed via a modem or an ISDN channel. If the caller ID is not available, or if the Callfilter file is empty, then the call will be accepted.

NOTE: The Callfilter file is empty when shipped, so that all incoming calls are accepted by default.
