Administering port monitors

Notifying manual changes made to administrative files

When changes are made to the SAC administrative file, the SAC daemon needs to be notified of the change. When changes are made to a port monitor's administrative files, the port monitor needs to be notified. When sacadm and pmadm are used to make changes, this notification takes place automatically. If the files are manually edited, the SAC daemon and the port monitors are not notified. In this case, call sacadm with the -x option to notify the SAC daemon or port monitor of the changes. You are advised against manually editing these files.

To update the SAC daemon's internal copy of the SAC administrative file, use the following command:

sacadm -x [-p pmtag]

The -x option tells the SAC daemon to update its internal copy of the information in the SAC administrative file. sacadm with the -x and -p options causes the SAC daemon to send a READ message to the designated port monitor, pmtag.
