Automatic disposition (filtering) of incoming mail
The mail transport provides two mechanisms for allowing users to
configure automated disposition of incoming mail.
-
.forward is a simple way to forward all incoming mail to one
or more destinations.
-
.maildelivery is a much more powerful mechanism that allows
mail to be sent to specific destinations (recipients and folders) based
on matching criteria. Originating user and subject contents can be
matched against, and multiple conditions can be used which is an
slocal(1)
enhancement over the .maildelivery functionality that is
present in SCO OpenServer 5.
.forward is a built-in sendmail feature, whereas
.maildelivery processing is provided by slocal
which the mail system uses as its local delivery agent.
For a full description of the above features, see the
forward(4)
and
maildelivery(4)
manual pages.
