Installation target directories
Some packages, or parts of a package (files),
must be installed in particular directories.
Other packages have no such requirement.
The package developer specifies these requirements in
the package installation file.
When you install a package that allows you to specify a
target directory, one of the following events takes place:
-
If you are installing in interactive mode, from the
Application Installer or
pkgadd(1M),
you are prompted by the package for a location to install files.
-
If you are installing in non-interactive mode (using pkgadd),
the target directory will be set to either the name specified in the
admin file, or a backup location defined by the package.
