Installing, managing, and removing software

You can install software designed for your UnixWare system from CD-ROM, disk, cartridge tape, an install server over the network, or from files stored in a local or remote filesystem.

The UnixWare system provides the following tools to install, manage, and remove software:


Graphical environment
The Application Installer allows you to easily add, view, and remove software packages and sets from media or another system. It handles most common software management tasks.

Command line environment
The pkg* commands provide a superset of Application Installer capabilities, including enhanced verification and error handling tools.
