ISDN networks require termination devices between customer terminal devices and the network. In North America, it is the customer's responsibility to provide these devices. Although there are combination devices available that combine terminal adapters and termination devices in a single component, most termination devices are separate devices.
If you are responsible for an ISDN installation in North America, familiarize yourself with the hardware documentation for your termination device. Elsewhere, familiarize yourself with your ISDN provider's troubleshooting guidelines.
