Configuration parameters

Configuration parameters

When configuring hardware devices, you may be prompted to supply values for configuration parameters:

General configuration parameters
used by many types of devices

Network ``custom'' parameters
used by some network adapters

Token-Ring network ``custom'' parameters
used by some Token-Ring network adapters
Custom parameters are defined by hardware manufacturers to control specific features of their devices. Some of the more common ones are defined here; consult your hardware documentation for more information on these parameters.

Most PCI and EISA systems can automatically detect configuration parameters, while many ISA systems require manual configuration. To change default parameters, use the SCOadmin manager for your device or the DCU (Device Configuration Utility).

NOTE: You must use the Network Configuration Manager to modify parameters for network adapters.
