Host Bus Adapter (HBA) drivers
A Host Bus Adapter (HBA) driver handles
the low-level details of programming a hardware
controller to act upon
commands issued by target drivers, and
responds to interrupts generated
by the commands sent to the controller.
HBA interaction with the controller
includes input and output of data to the registers,
and the transfer of data through
either DMA or programmed I/O.
See
``DMA''
and
``Programmed I/O (PIO)''.
Detailed information about developing HBA drivers
will be provided in a future release of the HDK.
See
``Guidelines for SDI HBA storage drivers''.
