Boot-time loadable drivers

NOTE: This chapter has not been reviewed for the current release. The information is generally accurate, although some details may have changed. Check the appropriate manual pages for the most current information.

Boot-time loadable drivers (BTLDs) are drivers that can be link-edited into the kernel during the booting process. This capability enables the operating system to be installed onto or from a device that was not included in the basic release kernel.

This section discusses how to write and package BTLDs. See the standard SCO OpenServer 5 documentation for instructions about installing BTLDs.
