DDX
Device Dependent X.
The DDX layer or ddx
library contains the device dependent
X server code that is used
to port support for graphics adapter hardware.
The DDX layer provides a software interface
to a conceptual hardware device.
The imagined device provides definitions
for the screen and graphics context (GC)
including primitives for drawing
lines, arcs, text, and so on.
These primitives may be provided by in the hardware,
or they may be built from even simpler primitives
found in the hardware.
The DDX layer includes the
mi (machine independent),
mfb (monochrome frame buffer),
cfb (color frame buffer)
layers.
