Video configuration testing
Configure your graphic adapter card
to verify that it is automatically detected
and that all the strings in the
grafinfo(DSP/4dsp)
file are spelled correctly.
First, configure your graphic adapter to use
the highest resolution that is supported
by your monitor, using 256 colors.
To do this, run the Video Configuration Manager
(scoadmin video).
-
Select Add Adapter.
Your graphic adapter should be autodetected.
-
Select OK.
-
Select Monitor.
Choose a monitor from the list that is displayed.
Any monitor should work,
assuming that the selected monitor
supports the refresh rate, if any,
that is specified in your grafinfo file.
-
Select Resolution.
Verify that all resolutions are syntatically correct
and that all resolutions are listed.
Resolutions should be listed
starting with the highest resolution,
frequency, and number of colors.
The resolutions should decrease
first by number of colors,
then frequency, and then resolution.
Configure the highest resolution supported
by your monitor at 256 colors.
-
Select OK.
-
Select Assign all function keys.
If this is successful,
you have configured all screens with your resolution selection.
Next, configure
vt02 (tty02),
to use a different resolution and different color depth.
This is used later
to verify screen switching.
-
Select Modify.
-
Select OK.
-
Select Add Resolution.
Choose a different resolution
and a different color depth.
For example, if you initially selected
1280x1025 256 colors
,
select
1024x768 64K colors
,
-
Select Specify function keys.
-
Select OK.
-
Select vt02.
This configures 1025x768 64K colors
on screen vt02 (tty02).
-
Select OK twice.
Note the warning that you are removing
the 1280x1024 configuration from this screen.
-
Continue to select OK
until the Video Configuration Manager
exits back to the system prompt.
