Using the SVR5 ndcert test suites
The
ndtests
(Network Driver Certification) Test Suites
are a compilation of several test suites
that provide a comprehensive suite
for testing network adapter hardware and associated drivers.
The
ant
test suites provide similar testing
for SCO OpenServer 5 network adapters.
The Certification Test Suites are so named
because these are the test suites that we use
to certify hardware and drivers from
independent hardware vendors (IHVs),
but the test suites are useful for any driver developer or tester
who needs to verify the quality of a device and driver.
The Network Driver Certification test suites
are divided into several packages
that can be installed with the
pkgadd
command.
All test suites are developed in the ETET
(Extended Test Environment Toolkit) environment,
although it is not necessary to learn ETET
to use the test suites.
The individual tests are listed below.
See
``Detailed description of the test suites''
for detailed information about each test.
nd-basix-
Basix package.
Contains utilities needed
to run the all the test suites
and must be installed in order to run any other test suite.
nd-mdi-
MDI (MAC Driver Interface) test.
Provides formal verification of
MDI driver interface compliance.
nd-dlpmdi-
DLPI MDI (Data Link Provider Interface) test
Doubles as an integration test
since MDI drivers must interface
the DLPI module under normal operation.
nd-util-
TCP UTILITY test
Utilizes ping, ftp,
rcp and telnet
and runs an ftp stress test.
nd-drvr-
DRIVER STRESS test
Applies to the driver for an extended period of time
and gathers statistics
about any failures and timeouts of the driver.
nd-ncard-
NCARD test
Verifies that the driver can work
with the maximum number of cards specified
and that the cards are logically distinct in data communications.
nd-tcp-
TCP STRESS test
Stresses the network using TLI
over the TCP protocol.
nd-spx-
SPX STRESS test
Stresses the network using TLI
over the SPX protocol.
nd-nfs-
NFS STRESS test
Stresses network using NFS over the UDP protocol.
