SVR5 drivers are packaged with the pkgadd facilities rather than with the SCO OpenServer 5 CDMT facilities. Note that SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.5a and later releases support the same pkgadd facilities that are supported for SVR5; earlier releases of SCO OpenServer 5 support an older version of the pkgadd tools that do not support advanced features such as file compression and sets. See ``Packaging and installing SVR5 drivers'' for details.
MDI has additional packaging facilities that simplify the packaging of drivers that are configured with the SCOAdmin tools. These packaging facilities are similar to those provided for SCO OpenServer 5, but are based on the autoconfiguration facilities and packaging technologies that are supplied with SVR5. See ``Configuring SVR5 MDI drivers'' for more information.
SDI drivers require some special packaging because the driver being installed may be for a device used to boot the system. See ``Packaging storage device drivers'' for more information.
