DDI 8 function changes

The following function modifications have occurred in DDI 8:

• All calls to functions that access the resource manager database must be run as part of a resource manager transaction in DDI 8; see ``Resource manager database''. This means that calls to functions such as cm_getval(D3) and cm_newkey(D3) must be wrapped by a call to the cm_begin_trans(D3) function and followed with a call to the cm_end_trans(D3) function in DDI 8. cm_abort_trans(D3) can be used to abort a transaction.

  Transactions should be kept as short as possible; holding a transaction for a long time can seriously degrade system performance.
