SVR5 includes the new system interface, which is a set of functions that access detailed, often OS-specific information. This interface replaces some functions that were in DDI 7 and earlier versions, and adds functions that standardize access to OS-specific information. The system interface includes functions to obtain topology information (such as the number of CPU groups) and how CPUs map to CPU groups. It also contains hooks for performance monitoring and interfaces to virtual memory for page relocation as required by memory monitors.
The system interface is considered more transient than the DDI, SDI, and MDI interfaces; each system interface version is supported for a shorter time than are the other driver interfaces.
Section D3sys manual pages contains the manual pages for the system interface functions.
