File Systems
A number of file system related features have been added:
-
The dosfs filesystem now supports
long file names and 32-bit File Acces Tables (FATs).
-
Most file system administrative commands,
such as
mount(1M)
no longer require the -F option, which specifies the file
system type; these commands are now capable of automatically
detecting the type of the file system being mounted.
One notable exception is
mkfs(1M),
which still requires the -F option.
-
The
marry(7)
driver and
marry(1M)
administrative command have been
added to provide the ability to create
filesystems on regular files and mount the regular files as
filesystems (via
mkfs(1M)).
